I am happy to officially announce, with the support of my family, that I will be running for school board seat 6 in the new Central/Aspen Peaks School District. Seat 6 will represent those that live in the Dry Creek (Lehi area only), Greenwood and Meadow Elementary Schools boundaries in south Lehi and American Fork.
I love public education. Both of my parents and my maternal grandparents taught in the schools I attended as a child in Nevada. I grew up going to almost every school sporting event, play and extracurricular event. As a parent, I have volunteered in any way I could to be involved in my children's schools. I have served on a PTA board for the last 11 years in the elementary, middle school and high school. I recently finished a two year position as Lehi Council PTA president. I have also served on SCCs at the schools that my children have attended. I love to volunteer in classes and try not to miss a field trip! My favorite part about volunteering is making new friendships with students, teachers and administrators. I love them!
I have a bachelor degree in Psychology from BYU and a masters degree in Special Education from UNLV. I worked in Special Education classrooms and as a Behavior Consultant before becoming my favorite job, Mom. The last few years I have subbed and been a behavior aide at my local elementary school.
Why am I running?Â
I love public education. Schools are my children's second homes. I love knowing I can make a difference in them and support teachers. I love advocating for our schools and am excited to help in the creation of a new district while building relationships with those in our area.
